Celebrate Literacy Week

February 7, 2022

BHS participated in “Celebrate Literacy Week” January 24th-28th. Celebrate Literacy Week is a week designated each year to encouraging students and families to make reading a daily priority. This year’s theme was “Launch Into Literacy: Blast Off Into New Worlds”.  Monday, students had the opportunity to hear from several local authors. Tiffany Nichols, Katie Detweiler, and Thomas Howell spoke to students about the books they have written and the importance reading has in their lives. Middle School students were able to visit the public library and get library cards. On Thursday, the students that have read 1,000,000 words were honored with a luncheon at “The Tiger’s Table”.  Friday, all students that have earned 4 or more AR points for the 9 weeks were treated to a cupcake. These students were also entered into a drawing for a gift basket.
