Thank you for supporting the BHS Culinary Program. We are so happy to get back to cooking!!

September

SOLD OUT

Church socials, potluck, covered dish dinner, fellowship meal, or dinner on the grounds. Whatever you want to call it, it is a time to catch up with friends, and family and enjoy foods that you don’t get to, except on special occasions. This Tiger’s Table is special to me because it salutes one of the places that helped form me. I’m calling this Tiger’s Table an Ode to Blountstown First Pentecostal Holiness Church and church socials everywhere.

During my formative years, the PH church was (and still is) full of excellent cooks, some even going on to win National competitions. Names like Elma Stewart, Ollie Halley, Louise Carpenter, Mae Belle Grantham, Lucille Holley: and even my own family, with Nettie Pitts Wood (my great grandmother), Frances Wood Price, aka Gran (my grandmother), and my aunts (Janet Price Edewaard, Cherie Price White and Janice Price Bulzer).

One of our fundraisers at church was a chicken plate sale that included Lion’s Club chicken (cooked by Mr. Harvey Grantham), potato salad, and green beans. It included ½ of a chicken that was cooked over an open wood flame and then dipped into a very thin, very unique BBQ sauce. After much trial and error over the summer, I think we are very close to the original that many had thought was lost.

So come join us on September 20! The cost of the meal is $15 and reservations must be made by Thursday, September 14. Due to spacial restrictions, we will be capping the reservations at 200. We will not be making deliveries on this Tiger's Table so our new staff/students can properly train.
